The bitter cold winds whipped through the concrete canyons of Manhattan on that fateful winter day, swirling flurries of snow around the imposing high-rise that housed the headquarters of United Health Company Insurance. As the city's corporate elite hustled along the sidewalks, few paid any mind to the nondescript figure loitering in the shadows of an alleyway across the street. Only when the echoing cracks of a suppressed gunshot rang out did heads turn in panic and confusion.

Inside the towering skyscraper's lavish top-floor corner office, United Health Company's CEO Edward Blackwell fell lifeless to the concrete sideway, blood pooling from the cluster of bullet wounds in his back and leg. The masked assailant swiftly melted back into the urban landscape, leaving a purposeful trail of clues - three spent shell casings emblazoned with the words "deny", "defend", and "depose."

While the NYPD launched an intensive manhunt, the news of Blackwell's assassination ignited a firestorm of public cheer and intense speculation over TikTok. Under his ruthless leadership, Blackwell had become the embodiment of corporate greed, rejecting over a third of all insurance claims to inflate profits for cold-hearted shareholders. Blackwell himself was facing federal charges of insider trading and antitrust violations. To millions whose lives were devastated by the company's draconian policies, the CEO's killer was seen not as a criminal, but as a vigilante hero.

As law enforcement scoured the city, the ultra elite began to fear for their own safety. While the sitting president condemned the violence, his right-wing authoritarian opponents claimed it exposed the failures of his administration to reign in gun violence. Conspiracy theories proliferated on social media, with some claiming the shooter was a disgruntled former employee while others suspected a family member had been harmed. Or was it the estranged wife? Or even more insidious, those within his own company who took a hit out on him?
